James Lee Burke is one of those rare authors that can elevate popular fiction to the level of literature. Although all of his novels are beyond excellent and meet the criteria of being impossible to put down, I especially love this one for its take on hurricane Katrina and its after effects.
Like most of Mr. Burke’s novels The Tin Roof Blowdown is set in Louisiana. The characters literally jump off the page. They are so real that half way through the novel they feel more like old friends. Once you read one novel featuring Detective Dave Robichaux you won’t be able to stop yourself from reading them all.
